VISION
“Realizing Sumatran Rainforest Conservation in an Innovative and Collaborative Manner for Ecological Sustainability and Balance, as well as Economic Justice for Community Welfare”
We have 3 (three) important pillars of sustainable development: Environment (ecology), society (socio-economic), and working approach (innovative and collaborative).
- Innovative & Collaborative: Conservation efforts are not carried out solely through conventional means, but embrace technology, methodological renewal, and involve various parties (multi-stakeholder: government, indigenous peoples, NGOs, academics, and the private sector)
- Ecological Sustainability & Balance: Protection and restoration of the Sumatran Rainforest ecosystem, which is rich in biodiversity (such as the Tapanuli orangutan, Sumatran tiger, and other rare wildlife), to ensure its functions are maintained in the long term.
- Economic Justice & Community Welfare: Conservation does not marginalize local or indigenous communities, but instead serves as a fair and prosperous source of livelihood through sustainable utilization.
MISSION
- Improving the income of communities around the forest through agroforestry patterns and the utilization of NTFPs (Non-Timber Forest Products) as an effort to build conservation awareness: Pillar of Economic Justice & Community Welfare
- Conserving wildlife through sustainable habitat management based on relevant science: Pillar of Ecological Sustainability & Balance
- Enhancing harmonious and professional collaboration with various parties who share a matching conservation vision: Pillar of Innovative & Collaborative Working Approach
- Developing an integrated, technology-based data and information management system to support organizational governance in decision-making: Pillar of Innovative & Collaborative Working Approach
- Enhancing organizational resources through mentoring and competency development training in the fields of management, administration and finance, community empowerment, patrolling, and GIS : Pillar of Innovative & Collaborative Working Approach
